How we use the data we collect

The site collects its revenue from advertising for which we request full consent through a "pop-up" when you first use the site. You can change your mind at any time by clicking here.

We also collect data for the purposes of Analytics and we use the legal basis of legitimate interests, to just look at an anonymised version of your visit to see how many visitors we're getting, where they go on the site and so on. We can see if someone has been before of course unless they deleted the cookie, in which case, we'll be perpetually fooled thinking they're new to us. We promise that we do nothing with these details other than mash them up with everyone else's and look only at an aggregated view to improve the site.

Where you do provide us with personal information, when registering to upload images, for example, we'll asked you to tick a box which says you consent for us to collect and store your data according to certain limits. You should note though that you have only consented to the processing of your data in accordance with the statement you ticked and so we'll limit our use of the data to that purpose and not do anything else with it.

Data Retention

We'll hold any images and information you provide indefinitely. This will include your registation and login details. However, you can delete any contributions you make to The ARKive through your Account at any time. Once you have deleted these entries, they cannot be retrieved.

You can also delete your account through the facility provided.

Your Rights

You have full rights according to the DPA and to make a complaint of course. In the first instance, please make contact through the   Contact Us   page.
